WSJ: Demand for offshore oil drilling rigs rises

Demand for offshore oil drilling rigs has been on the rise worldwide due to increased demand for energy, supply disruptions amid the war in Ukraine and fuel prices above pre-pandemic levels.

Report informs citing The Wall Street Journal that, according to research company Westwood Global Energy Group, at the end of 2017, out of about 600 drilling rigs available for rent, only 63% were used. In December 2022 this figure had already reached 90%. Companies such as Transocean, Valaris, Noble rent drilling rigs for rent and service them.

According to the newspaper, the offshore oil boom could help the economies of some developing countries.

The leaders of this list are the USA, Mexico and Norway.
